THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD AND THE LENS OF A CAMERA

Call for photosFestival Organizers Seeking Images Of Wonderland’s Past

For many of the people who call Marshall home, the annual Wonderland of Lights Festival is a family tradition. And, with the festival celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, many of the children who visited the first festival have children of

their own who are counting the days until November 23rd when the festivities begin.

To honor all of those who have contributed to making Wonderland of Lights one of the most well-known holiday festivals in the country, as well as generations of Marshall residents, organizers of the event are planning displays which showcase photographs taken at the festival

over the past 25 years.

The Marshall Convention & Visitors Bureau is inviting the public to share their pictorial memories taken during past Wonderland’s, according to John Arend, president of Z Group Communications, co-producer of the 25th anniversary of the Wonderland of Lights Festival.

Those interested in submitting photos can email them to wonderland@VisitMarshallTexas.org or bring them to the offices of the Marshall Convention & Visitors Bureau, 213 West Austin, prior to November 10. Originals will be scanned and returned.

“A quarter-century is a long time,” Arend said. “We’re hoping to receive thousands of photos which will help us to share the joy which takes place during this special time of year with the world. After all, it’s not the Christmas lights that you remember, it’s the light in the children’s eyes that lasts forever in our memories.”
